The Spanish company Gamesa Aeronautica has signed a contract with Boeing to redesign the second floor of their new Jumbo jet. A team of engineers from the Spanish aeronautical company travelled to Boeing headquarters in Seattle to begin work. Their mission is to make the second floor of the B-747 wider and to give it new wings that will allow for greater cargo volume.
Eighty engineers from Gamesa Aeronautica will take part in this project. The decisión to hire Gamesa Aeronautica was made due to the excellent work they did on remodelling the 747-400 freighter.
A spokesperson from Gamesa Aeronautica said that the 2- year Boeing contract reinforces their current and future relations with Boeing.
Gamesa Aeronautica has nine production facilities with 2,640 employees. Their annual turnover is €313 million.
