Els Torms, a Spanish manufacturer of organic olive oil from various native localities, has introduced its Olicatessen brand olives in the United States.
The company brings added value to its “green treasure” by applying some tips from the wine world, including preparing oils according to the clients’ specifications, which requires that they discriminatively pick their olives.
Through a sensory analysis of the dregs, they can adapt the blend of oils to the tastes of each market.
The company also introduced a method of producing organic oil that uses everything and converts the dregs into fertilizer for the soil. In addition to olive oil, the firm also sells olive paté and olive oil soaps. More than 75% of the produce from their 50 hectares of land is exported to Switzerland, Denmark, New Zealand, Canada, the United States and Germany.
The company’s short-term goal is to plant more olives in order to supply new markets that support their intention of not buying olives from third parties.
