GA Solar, the photovoltaic energy division of Gestamp, wants to make an impact in the United States, where it plans to build a factory to produce structures for photovoltaic plants.
According to the Spanish newspaper Cinco Dias, GA Solar has entered a partnership with the American firm SunDurance to set up a plant capable of supplying 126 MW of photovoltaic power annually. This will help boost the Spanish company’s position in the U.S. market where it already has offices in San Francisco, Fresno and Albuquerque.
As part of GA Solar´s strategy to grow in the U.S., last August it formed a company with Sierra Nevada Corporation to develop photovoltaic parks in the country. This joint venture includes a contract to supply 60 MW to power National Guard installations.
The Spanish newspaper also reported that GA Solar has acquired the American photovoltaic parks promoter Eight Minutes and its portfolio of 350 MW in California.
