According to a rankings list prepared by the consulting firm A.T. Kearney and BusinessWeek Magazine, Inditex, Mapfre and Telefonica are among the top 40 companies in the world that despite the current economic crisis, have maintained their command and continue to profit.
Thanks to a business model focused on the consumer, Inditex, which is in ninth place, has become a leader in “a saturated market”, recognized for its multi-brand strategy and standard for becoming international in scope.
Mapfre, in 21st place, is acknowledged for its internationalization strategy in Latin America and for its recent efforts in the United States and Turkey.
Telefonica which ranked 32nd, is the only telecom with a major presence in Europe that placed on the list.
Nintendo leads the rankings, followed by Google and Apple. While the 2009 A.T. Kearney Index includes companies from a broad range of countries, most of the leading companies represent telecommunications and technology and heavy industries and engineering.
