American Airlines will conect Madrid and New York starting May 2010

American Airlines (AA) has announced a new daily route, starting May 2nd 2010 that will link the airport of Madrid-Barajas (Spain) to JFK Airport in New York (United States).

In a statement, the U.S. airline said that this new route will complement existing routes Barcelona-New York (JFK), Madrid- Miami and Madrid-Dallas/Fort Worth.

Spain thus becomes the third European country with more operations of American Airlines, just behind Britain and France. The American company expectes to grow in the Spanish market, where it has been operating continuously for over 20 years.

The new route represents an added value to the Madrid airport, which will leverage its position as European grid center. It is also envisaged that the new conection will have a positive impact in multiple areas, such as tourism, business and culture between America and Spain. American Airlines will operate the new route with a Boeing 757-200, with a total of 182 seats.
