Wine exports with D.O. La Mancha have grown over 30 percent in the first 6 months of the year, to 24.5 million liters, compared to 18.6 million liters during the same period of 2008, report the D.O. produces.
The value for money of the wines from La Mancha make them highly competitive in markets such as Germany, Britain, United States, Russia and Scandinavia, where the wine is increasingly apreciated
Germany still holds first place among importers of quality wine from La Mancha with 2,447,640 bottles in the first half of this year compared to 1,376,976 bottles during the first six months of 2008.
Also, 2,023,140 bottles were exported to Great Britain, compared to 1,931,244 in the first half of last year, but the most striking increase has been the United States, which has surpased the Netherlands and has already become the third largest importer of wines D.O. La Mancha, with 1,751,964 bottles until June.
The Netherlands has also done nicely with 947,532 bottles, but the most spectacular figures, more becaus of the novelty, are the Czech Republic with 800,016 bottles, Austria with 612,456 bottles and Poland, 587,988 bottles, which confirms that the Central and Eastern Europe is the fastest growing markets in volume for La Mancha wines, although the potential is even greater, because the 272,000 bottles for the Russian market that already far exceed previous year's figures could still increase substantially in coming years.
Further away are the Asian markets, with 303,024 bottles exported to China, 290,892 to Taiwan or 212,688 bottles to Japan. But the most positive point is that sales of La Mancha quality wines are enormously diversified worldwide, as they are sold in 80 countries.
