A delegation from the Canary Islands (Spain) will participate in the US-Africa Summit, a biannual meeting organized by the Corporate Council on Africa, represented by 85 percent of American corporations tht have projects in Africa.
As reported by Zona Especial Canaria (ZEC), in a joint statement with the delegation in Canary Islands of the American Chamber of Commerce, the purpose of this trip is to establish contacts with companies interested in taking advantage of tax benefits in the Canary Islands and to present the Islands as an international business platform.
The business association and the local institution will contact with some thirty American companies interested in searching for locations to expand their projects into Europe and West Africa. At these meetings, the ZEC and the American Chamber will explain the tax incentives offerd, as well as the atractive aspects derived from the logistic infrastructure and geo-strategic position of the archipelago.
According to the American Chamber in the Canary Islands five American companies have been established in the archipelago over the past two years, with an investment of over five million euros. The profile of the companies is medium size firms who work in the service sector or directly related with the world of new technologies and renewable energies. These are the more likely activities for companies to settle in the region, due to the fiscal regime which applies in the Spanish archipelago.
